Below is a reading list compiled by the College Board, specifically designed for high school students looking to prepare for college-level literacy. Next to each title you will see that selection's "Lexile." A book's Lexile number measures the difficulty of the language of the text, and is determined by two main factors: 1) word frequency and 2) sentence length. In short, the higher the Lexile score, the more difficult the language is to understand.
